If you’ve ever tried to quit smoking, you may be feeling like it’s just never going to happen. However you probably know that quitting smoking is the most important thing you can do to improve the quality and length of your life.

Immediately after you quit, your body begins to heal the damage which was caused by smoking. So while it’s better to quit earlier in life, as soon as you quit you’re helping your body to heal that damage.

Let’s not forget that smoking cigarettes is expensive. Most countries are taxing cigarettes hugely, and since they don’t offer any true benefit to your life, that’s money straight down the drain. One thing which can be helpful if you’ve been wanting to quit is to add up how many packets of cigarettes you smoke per week, times it by 52, and that number is money which could go on a celebratory holiday, or towards a new car.

Smoking is also antisocial. More and more countries have laws which don’t allow you to smoke inside, and some even have rules about how close you can be to the restaurant, bar, or mall. That means while everyone else is having a good time, you’re stuck outside smoking- something which is made worse during winter when it’s freezing.

If you’ve got kids, or are thinking about having kids in the future, one of the best things you can do is to quit smoking. Smoking effects your fertility, and the second hand smoke is hugely damaging for kids, who can end up with a number of health conditions, including more ear infections and chest colds, and lower birth rates, along with an increased rate of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

Let’s not forget that kids look at their parents as an example of how to live. No matter how many times you tell them smoking is bad, and that they shouldn’t do it, they’re listening to what you do, and not what you say. So every time they see you puff on a cigarette they think it’s ok to do it too.

Quitting smoking is also beneficial in a number of other ways. Your clothes and house will no longer smell like stale cigarette smoke, your sense of smell will be better, and you’ll find that your sense of taste changes and food tastes better as well. Eventually you won’t even crave cigarettes, and you’ll be able to make it through a flight or long movie without craving cigarettes. Exercise will be easier, your smokers cough will be no more, and you’ll probably find yourself with a new lease on life.

There’s no argument that quitting can be tough. Some people need to try to quit multiple times before it sticks. But with advances in technology it’s also becoming easier than ever. E-cigarettes are a great option as they allow you to use your hands like you’re smoking,  and yet don’t have any nicotine in them- just a vapour, if you choose this option.Check out the frequently asked questions for more information.
